After first opening in the early 1900s and gaining popularity during the middle of the century, diners became a staple of the American landscape. The quick-stop restaurants are places hungry diners can visit and always ensure they will find a hot cup of coffee, indulgent breakfasts, classic lunches and filling dinners all without making a big dent in their wallet.
Taste of Home searched "coast to coast" to determine the best diner in each state, the beloved eateries serving up "good old-fashioned diner fare" that became a classic for a reason. According to the site, the best diner in all of Arizona is the Welcome Diner, which describes itself as a "farm to table, American Fare diner in the Southwest/Sonoran Desert with roots in a Southern tinge," per its website.
Welcome Diner is located at 929 E. Pierce Street in the Garfield neighborhood of Phoenix.
Here's what Taste of Home had to say about Arizona's best diner:
"Located in a mid-century building with tons of character, the Welcome Diner boasts an outdoor patio and plenty of veggie and vegan options for customers to choose from. Its signature dish, the Big Jim, is a biscuit with fried chicken, sausage gravy, cheddar and bacon. Sign us up! P.S. Welcome Diner's Garfield location is open, but their Tucson location is temporarily closed for the time being."
