National Wear Red Day® is Friday, Feb. 6. The American Heart Association is asking you to support the Go Red for Women® movement by wearing RED and participating in National Wear Red Day. Why? Losing even one woman to heart disease or stroke is too many.
Why Go Red?
• Awareness is critical. Everyone needs to know that cardiovascular disease is theNo. 1 killer of women.1
• Nearly 45% of women over age 20 are living with some form of cardiovasculardisease.2
• Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of new moms as the leading cause of maternalmortality.3
• Women are less likely than men to receive bystander CPR and less likely tosurvive an out-of-hospital sudden cardiac arrest.4
• Only 38% of cardiovascular clinical research trial participants were women as of2020.
• “Know Your Numbers” – key personal health numbers that help determine risk forheart disease include total cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar and body mass index.

• Wear Red to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease – the leading cause of death in women – and encourage family and friends to do the same. When women come together for a good cause there is nothing they can’t achieve.
