A 12-year-old girl created something that makes treatment a little bit easier for kids like her that have to spend long time in the hospital getting treatments that require tubes and equipment hooked up to her small body.
This amazing girl name is Ella Casano. Unfortunately Ella has a condition called Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP). It's an autoimmune disease that causes her body to destroy its own blood platelets. She has to get frequent infusions and has to spend time hooked up to an IV machine. She always thought it was sad and cold. So she came up with a brilliant idea. Why not having a friend next to you while you are getting treatment. The friend, a teddy bear. So she designed a teddy bear that is cute and cuddly in the front, with a pocket that allows doctors to access the bag of medication, blood or fluid going into the patient's veins. Now she is planning to make this massive. She patented her idea and wants to reach many many kids that like her have to undergo hospital treatments.
