Amazon's Alexa Can Monitor Your Heartbeat With "Invisible Sound Waves"

Soon, Amazon’s Alexa may be listening closer than you’d expect. Scientists are working on a smart speaker that can give your Alexa or Google Home the ability to monitor your heartbeat.

Researchers have designed a prototype that sends out “invisible sound waves” that are picked up by a sensor in the home device, and through an AI algorithm, the device can count time between heartbeats. University of Washington researchers have already tested the new tech on both healthy people and cardiac patients… and apparently, the smart speaker can be just as good as a medical-grade ECG monitor.
