Thinking about taking a trip up to the Grand Canyon this week? Not so fast.
The Grand Canyon National Park announced hat it would be closed on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week due to "public health concerns." However, the park would partially reopen on Friday for the Memorial Day weekend.
According to the Grand Canyon's website, the closures will be in effect for 24-hours a day for the next three days, Tuesday - Thursday, May 19-21, 2020.
"Grand Canyon National Park is working with federal, state, and local public health authorities to closely monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and additionally coordinating with neighboring tribes and communities while using a phased approach to increase access of public lands while reducing the potential exposure of COVID-19 to the approximately 2,500 residents in the park."
The Grand Canyon partially reopened last weekend with limited access and viewpoints.
