YouTube Couple Face Backlash For ‘Rehoming’ Autistic Son From China

Myka Stauffer is being met with vicious allegations after her latest YouTube video.

The 32-year-old YouTube influencer drew backlash from fans following Tuesday’s (May 26) video in which she and her husband James admitted to rehoming their four-year-old son, Huxley, after adopting him from China three years ago.

“With international adoption, sometimes there are unknowns and things that are not transparent on files. Once Huxley came home, there were a lot more special needs than we were aware of and we were not told,” James explained.

The couple later learned Huxley had a brain cyst and brain tumor, and had eventually been diagnosed with autism disorder level 3. “There’s not an ounce of our body that doesn’t want Huxley with all of our being. There wasn’t a minute that I didn’t try our hardest,” added Myka, who also has four biological children. “Do I feel like a failure as a mom? 500 percent. So when we get insidious, hurtful comments, it really makes it hurt worse.”

Myka revealed Huxley had been re-homed for a few months, revealing, “He is thriving. He is really happy, doing really well. His new mommy has medical, professional training and it’s a really good fit.”

Despite the emotionally-charged explanation, fans were outraged by the pair’s choice — with many accusing the couple of exploiting Huxley’s adoption for gain. “Myka stauffer really just gave her kid away bc adoption wasn’t a dreamy aesthetic journey like she thought it’d be Nauseated face these ig moms are another level of gross. that poor sweet little boy,” a fan tweeted.

Another Twitter user wrote, “Myka Stauffer proved herself the ultimate Karen when she crowdfunded an adoption of 2yo with Autism from China, exploited him and his meltdowns for praise on YT, and then rehomed him like an unwanted pet once she had another bio kid.”
