Moms raise over $10K for restaurant meals to hospital workers

A group of moms started an initiative that has gotten over 600 meals donated to hospital workers in South Carolina during the coronavirus pandemic. They use donated money to buy food from Charleston-area restaurants that have been ordered to do take out services only. The food is delivered to area hospitals for front line workers.

"We’re feeding everyone from nurses and doctors to the security guard at the front entrance, everyone who is playing a role in keeping these hospitals open," Klomparents, 37, a mom of two, told "Good Morning America." "And we're supporting local businesses who need our help.”

The idea began with Klomparents and her neighbor, Pigg, who is also a mom of two. It began after Pigg had a conversation with her dad, a physician at Medical University of South Carolina, about how chaotic it was at the hospital right now during this coronavirus pandemic.

The meals from local restaurants are now going to four different hospitals in the Charleston area.
